My sister was in flip flops and I was in short workout shorts cover with a towel. After getting out of the pool, we noticed people were still swimming closer to 5:30. After paying, she is still extremely rude, telling us “you need to leave 5 to 6” my sister and I didn’t understand so we asked when to leave and she told us the same thing. She is refusing to take our card by saying “it’s a waste of money, I wouldn’t pay so much for less than an hour” etc. She tells us we have less than an hour to swim, we say okay and try to hand her our card. We walk in and we are greeted by a woman with longer grey hair, glasses and a green hoodie, as we are greeted, she has the most horrendous attitude towards us. If nothing is done about this, I will take action. My sister and I went to swim and work out at Buck and we have never been treated with such disrespect in the many, MANY years I have been doing there. As for us, we are now driving to the Golden Rec Center where our kids can have fun and play independently. Maybe as an adult this place is a decent venue for working out, but it is certainly not a great place for kids – especially when there are so many good rec centers around the city. Wouldn’t waste my time or money going there as a family. None of the water features work, so there is nothing for them to do except for the lazy river and you have to be in it with them.Beyond that, the staff was quite rude (when you could get them to look up from the book they were reading) and acted like we were crazy when we asked for our money back. The icing on the cake was when a man walked into the women’s locker room to get paper towels. All in all this place is awful. If they want to go on their own, the only place they can go is a shallow pool with one baby slide. So, essentially you have to be in the pool with your kids at all times. The my require you to have kids in flotation devices or constantly be held by an adult if they are 5 or under. The water was freezing, the kids are not allowed in any of the warm pools or the hot tubs. They are avid swimmers (have been swimming independently for over a year and a half, swim in the ocean, snorkeled in the ocean in Hawaii).

We went in to take our young children swimming. We just left there after having a terrible 15 minute experience.

This is not completely the gym’s fault, but some teenage guys were there, not wearing masks, when hanging out with each other at the weight station, and clearly not vaccinated, because they were supposedly wearing masks, but pulled down away from their noses, when they were out among other people. They don’t require masks for vaccinated people, which seems pretty cool, except for the ones lying and misbehaving. But it’s a very nice homey kind of gym, and it’s a real pleasure having it nearby.Don’t go there if you’re worried about COVID-19. Hours are pretty restrictive. This was not our first choice - we were going somewhere else for the past few years, until they shut down because of the pandemic. Fair selection of resistance machines, but very little duplication. Several cardio machines in the form of treadmills and ellipticals, but not a lot of variety. Good collection of weights, but in a confined area. I love the current and lap pools, but I don’t use the wading pools. Nice meeting rooms, basketball court, walking track. I love that it’s only 5 minutes from my home. Ages 8 to 13 must be accompanied by a parent. This is my favorite gym, even though it has serious limitations.
